Item Description

On the Koruyan Vase figures a relief inspired from
the reliefs of the royal palace in the city of Kalha of the Assyrian Kingdom. The figure represents the protector winged god of Assurnasirpal II of the Assyrian Kingdom. The head band and the wrists carry the motif of life flower. The right hand is raised as if in prayer. This figure on the wall relief believed to have been decorating the doorway of a bedroom in the palace was apparently served as protector against evil spirits. The relief is now at the St Petersburg Hermitage Museum.
The Koruyan Vase is handmade glass and the reliefs are subjected to aging by use of dye.
