Item Description

Reverse painting on glass is called verre églomisé. Many of these reverse paintings were done in 1890s-1920s of various historic and famous sights. They were sold as souvenirs and aren't regarded as fine works of art and were typically not signed or signed by unlisted artists. But these are still collectible and a part of American history. The frames were typically gold gilded although this frame has damage consistent with its age which is over 100 years old. In Connecticut, the painting of Bushnell Park and the State Capitol is what is typically found in Connecticut. Worth bidding on to get a piece of Connecticut and Hartford history back a century ago!
