This exemplary, very fine quality French 19th century figural Bronze spelter replica. Beautifully sculpted work depicting “Dionysus”, the God of wine, dancing and reaching down toward a baby centaur. On the signed marble plinth is impressed Le Vin / Acquis par La Ville De Paris / by Holweck (Salon des Beaux-Arts), by noted French artist Louis Holweck (1861-1935). The other side with the foundry mark of J F'Deur, of the French foundry. The original sculpture dates back to the late 19th century. This very fine quality reproduction of the casting is impressive, and the entire sculpture has a deep rich patina.
