Josef Hoflehner is an Austrian photographer known for his dramatic black-and-white landscapes. His geometric style of photography often emphasizes angles and lines through images of stone walls, pathways, and boardwalks. For example, in his series Americas (2007-2011), the artist explores light and contrast in his depictions of imagery associated with the American frontier, including roads, palm trees, and camper vans. Born in 1955 in Wels, Austria, the artist was voted Nature Photographer of the Year at the International Photography Awards in 2007 and has exhibited his work internationally. Today, his works are held in the AT&T Collection in New York, the Fidelity Investments Collection in Boston, and the Dubai International Finance Centre, among others. He has also published his work in a number of books, including, Iceland (2006), (2008), and Retrospective (2015). Hoflehner lives and works in Wels, Austria.
