Item Description

19th century James Edwards - Iron Mulberry Transfer-ware Plates - "Bochara" Pattern
The ironstone mulberry transfer-ware plate is the 'Bochara' pattern which was registered in 1847. The central chinoiserie motif features dogwood trees in full springtime bloom behind a pagoda on which two figures appear on the balcony. Two more figures appear on a bridge connecting the pagoda to the image of a large garden urn containing peonies in full bloom. The border of the twelve-sided plate had alternating patterns of flowers and geometric designs. The plate measures 9" across and is stamped "Bochara - J.E." and impressed "James Edwards". There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
