History of the 228th FA Group in E.T.O.
A pictorial map of the 228th Field Artillery Group's progress from England to the Siegfried Line. The 228th F.A. was a part of the XIX Corps that fought in WW II from the beaches of Normandy to victory in Germany. The map is printed in at least seven different colors. There are humorous caricatures of the British depicted as Red Coats, a French woman saying "Cigarettes for Papa," and a whale in the English Channel. The map depicts military equipment employed by the group. sometimes showing engagements with the enemy along their route. Calendar pages from 24 Feb to 20 Nov are printed at different locations along the route to note where the group was on what date. The Commanding officer was Col. John Hinton.
