For over 20 years members of the Angea family of Hickiwan village have been making what is now known as "friendship pottery".
The bowl is made the traditional way using a rolled gray clay, coiled into the shape of a bowl, then shaped & smoothed. after the grey clay dries then a layer of red clay is added the firewood burned around the washtub covered with a sheet of ton serves as the kiln. after firing the bowls are cooled & sapped from the mesquite tree to further decorate the friendship figures, the sap is colorless yet it turns black when the bowls are reheated by wood coals.
The dimensions are 6" tall x 6.5" wide with a 5.5" diameter across the top.
