Item Description

Lansdowne was often described as the successor to John James Audubon, the 19th-century painter who was North America's best known wildlife artist. "[Lansdowne] is the premier illustrator of birds in the world today," said S. Dillon Ripley, secretary emeritus of the Smithsonian Institution, where Lansdowne's work was shown in 1977.
Framed Artist Proof Print #37/48 " Barred Owl" Hand Signed By Artist J.F. Landsdowne 1967 . The back of the artwork has a lovely print of an Owl sketch and a description of the Barred Owl. On the frame is a brass plate that tells us it was "Lithographed by the Columbia Printing Company".
James Fenwick Lansdowne OC, OBC, LL.D, RCA (1937 - 2008).
An important Canadian painter, illustrator, printmaker and author, James Fenwick Lansdowne was born in Hong Kong, China and died in Victoria, Canada, where he had lived since 1940. His bird paintings and prints have been the subject of exhibitions at numerous important venues such as the Beijing Museum of Natural History, China; the Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago; the National Audubon Society, New York City; the National Geographic Society, New York City; the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto; and the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, Washington, D.C
Dimensions: Frame 26 1/2" wide x 34" tall. The visible artwork is 19" wide x 26" tall.

Notes: Beautiful use of mixed framing materials including woods & linen.

-Please -only 1 Person inside the main Pick-Up room at a time.
