Norman Ives graduated as a member of the first graphic design class at Yale University, which was directed by Josef Albers. He became a faculty member in 1952, and a full professor in 1972. He is well known for his use of letter forms. He’s also known for collaborating with Sewell Sillman to create Ives-Sillman, Inc, which produced limited editions of screenprints for artists such as Willem De Kooning and Josef Albers.
