Item Description

Designed by Andrzej Pągowski this poster is hard to find. I obtained in Warsaw in 1985 when it was still socialist. There are some edge issues as I have traveled with it for many years. 38" x 26", Polish theater posters were a means of dissidence in and of itself. The images often had subtext and criticized government policy but since the Poles adored their theater the govt. could not clamp down for fear of the masses. Stark and powerful it would require a Pole living in socialist Poland to give me the full subtext here. There are creases, edge wear, pin holes but it still remains as powerful as when I first obtained.
