Item Description

The celebrated designer William Morris is considered a key figure of the Arts and Crafts Movement of the mid 19th century. This ORIGINAL 1897 edition is numbered 197 of a limited pressing of 220 copies, of which only 210 were sold. Original cloth boards of midnight blue with a cream spine with raised bands and gorgeous endpapers. Letterpress is in black and red, printed at Chiswick Press and published by Bell & Sons in London in 1897, this masterpiece contains over 40 colored plates, accompanied by tissue guard-sheets with letterpress descriptions, together with several black and white reproductions of Morris' most famous works.

Condition notes: Spine's cover has separated from sewn binding, binding is intact but shows small separations. Some minor foxing/browning is seen throughout. Paper edges have some discoloration due to age. Please view images for more details.
