This is the most unusual shape we have ever seen in an ice cream mold. Oysters on the half shell isn't the first thing you'd normally think of when you are craving ice cream, but this must have been spectacular molded up. The ice cream will lid be embellished, painted if you will, with food coloring. This would have been quite the masterpiece.
When molds fell out of favor, many were scrapped and melted down. That combined with this larger banquet size and odd subject matter makes this a rare piece, even with its damage.
It is quite heavy, clocking in at 5 lbs.
Notes: This mold has seen some mileage. The handle is squished downward. It is missing the pins that hold the mold shut. The hinges are bent, and because of this, do not line up correctly. One of the hinges is broken off completely. It's dusty and dirty. Dinged and dented.
