The H.T. Cushman Manufacturing Company was founded in 1886 and spent close to 100 years building furniture in Bennington, Vermont. The company began by building coat racks, pencil boxes, hat hangers, and more, but soon became well known for their furniture.

In 1933, the H.T. Cushman Company introduced Cushman Colonial Creations, a new line of colonial style furniture designed by Herman DeVries to appeal to modern tastes. It featured rounded edges and a reddish maple color and proved to be very popular. It was the company's trademark line for three decades. bennington.pastperfectonline.com
