Chinese Qing Dynasty Elmwood Chair

A Chinese Qing Dynasty elm wood armchair, with open back, carved splat, wooden seat and carved apron. Created in China, this elm wood armchair features a rectangular open back, adorned with an in-curving splat adorned with a scrolling foliage-themed carved medallion. The two arms present a serpentine shape and rest on thin sinuous supports. The chair showcases a wooden seat with recessed panel in the center and is raised on four straight legs with carved apron in the front and a low stretcher perfect to support the feet. The sides each feature a simple apron and a stretcher.
