Item Description

This lot of three antique sad irons is perfect for display, door stops, actually use for ironing, or simply to have and collect! Made from solid cast iron and wooden handles, these are the real deal!
One of the sad irons has raised lettering about the Maker: The J W Williams Company was established at Chagrin Falls, Ohio in 1844. They were manufacturing them by the 1870s. In 1895 the Montgomery Ward catalogue sold solid metal irons similar to this one by the pound– .02 ½ cents a pound. Another of the Sad Irons is labeled by the Asbestos company. Perfect for any farm house decor or family heirlooms. Each iron is approx 7” long x 3 1/2” wide x 4 3/4” tall. The iron with no wooden handle has a matching cast iron resting plate.
