Item Description

Bonhams describes a similar 18th century piece as the “Crisply and delicately carved as a bamboo trunk flanked by an open lingzhi, one side with clusters of bamboo and lingzhi issuing from the base of each, the other side with a phoenix standing on a lingzhi, wood stand.”

Jade (yù) is the most precious of all stones to the Chinese and symbolizes purity and excellence.
