Item Description

Lovely White Treadle Sewing Machine 1914-1918 - on metal caster wheels with Accessories -Nice Gold & Blue-Green colored Decals - 4 Drawers, Buttonholer, Small thumb-press Oil Can, wood spool with green thread, 5 metal bobbins, a safety pin and an old bowtie! The metal foot peddle reads: WHITE S M Co, USA. The name White shows up again down below in the back of the metal stand. The Patent dates on the silver-tone metal to the left of the needle area on the sewing machine read from 1900 to 1913; it also has "Use White Needles Only"; and it has " White Sewing Machine, Cleveland, O. USA". The Serial number is PR 2811515 which my research showed puts its origin between 1914-1918.
There is still a nice visible measuring "stick" in front of the machine on the wood surface in front.
DIMENSIONS: When Open the White Treadle Sewing Machine body is 48 3/4" wide; When Closed it is 34 1/2" Wide x 18 1/2" Deep x 32" Tall.
The 4 Drawers are 15" deep x 4" wide.
CONDITION: For 100 years of age- it looks pretty darn attractive! Yes - it has wear spots and surface wear in the wood - but it is clean and the cross grains on the top of the lid add to its wonderful patina. There are a few wood splinters around the underneath of the cabinet, a loose panel under the sewing machine when it is closed at the bottom of the body, the pulley rope is off the large wheel -but the treadle goes up and down nicely when you apply your foot to it and it makes the large metal pulley wheel spin. The wheel on the right side of the Sewing Machine also spins by hand. The Machine rises and lowers into or out of the sewing machine cabinet cavity when you lift or close the top lid. There are small bits of fret work missing on one of the left side drawer fronts.

Condition

Consistent with age and use.
