Here we have an interesting pair of antique steel framed, amber yellow tinted "shooting" spectacles. They intentionally do not have any refractive correction, and the contrast of the tinting against a blue sky assists in bird hunting. Some claim these type of tinted glasses were used by snipers in the Civil War, but I could not find a historical military reference to them.
The case says R. Wakeman, 116-118 Meigs Bldg., Bridgeport. The glasses themselves are marked on the underside of the nose piece. I can't make out the name, perhaps it is TAWAUL. I have included a close up for you to discern.
Notes: Please view the numerous, detailed photos for an accurate appraisal of item condition. The wire eyeglass arms have serious bends and twists, and need to be patiently straightened. The lenses have some scratches. The frames are tarnished. The metal case is missing some of the leather covering and has rust.
