A VERY early folding knife, dating to the 19th century. Manufactured by Rodgers [states underneath name 'CUTLERS TO HER MAJESTY' . . .meaning Queen Victoria]. On the blade, it states 'FOR NEW ENGLAND WHALERS' in reference to whaling ship crew members. On the wooden scales, the date '1877' is etched. It is around the time this knife was made. Condition is not perfect, but it is quite old.
