Antique (?) Painting - Children At Well - Ornate Gilt Frame - Pay Toll - A Kiss Before You May Have The Water

Antique coloured artwork in ornate gilt frame - unsigned, undated, untitled ’Pay Toll - A kiss before you may have the water’.
The wooden gesso frame is quite ornate but has damage especially on the lower edge. The artwork is covered with glass; so it is hard to tell if it is really a painting or not. I can definitely see brush strokes, but it might just be a partially embellished piece. It has been framed for a long time, so I didn’t want to open it up. Please view the photos and judge for yourself.

Frame measures 22” x 26”.

Art measures 12 1/2” x 16 1/2”.

Notes: Damage on frame, artwork looks good, glass looks good.

Consistent with age and use.
