Antique Japanese Meiji Period SUMIDA GAWA VASE- Artist Signed- Circa 1880

Fantastic Meiji Period Japanese SUMIDA GAWA vase, with artist signature in high relief medallion. Centers upon an elderly scholar, leaning against a table. GReen to blue flambe paint over a red pottery ground. The scholar is figural, projecting in VERY high relief, adding visual interest. It dates to the last quarter of the 19th century. Please note- old, clean repair to the rim, done early in the vase's life and not a major detriment. Stands 9"
