Item Description

Rare solid bronze Japanese okimono of an elephant, signed by known Meiji Period sculptor [AOKI] YOSHIKIYO. It dates to circa 1870s/80s, and is in excellent overall condition. As with okimono and netsuke from this era of Japanese artwork, the level of detail is superb. His works have graced both Christie's and Bonham's auctions, and though not a large sculpt, it is a wonderful rendering.
