Item Description

Full title: "The Spectator with Sketches of the Lives of the Authors, and explanatory notes, in Eight Volumes." Printed for William Allason, J. Maynard and W. Blair by William Blair in Eidinburgh. The Spectator was a widely read daily publication founded by Joseph Addison and Richard Steele in England, from 1711 to 1712 (v 1 - vII) and was revived by Addison in 1714 (v 8).

Leather bound with lovely marbled front and back cover overlays. Embossed spines with seven decorative bands, gold inlay details have crackling and other signs of aging. Bindings and hinges are intact, pages and endpapers show some foxing. Please refer to photos for more details.
