Antique framed photo of a group of young ladies with ‘P of H’ seen in the background - wooden frame with painted on decoration measures 21 1/2”x 25 1/2”, opening measures 15 1/2”x 19 1/2”, no photography’s credit.
P of H stands for National Grange Of The Order Of Patrons Of Husbandry. It is a fraternal social organisation that was founded as an American agricultural advocacy group. It originally had rituals and degrees like those in Freemasonry. It lobbied government to help the rural community but also had a social aspect as this photo illustrates. All the people involved are listed, but I do not know which Grange this is from. I can tell you it from Pennsylvania.
Notes: Some scratches on the frame, photo looks pretty good, backing yellowed and chipped off.
Consistent with age and use.
