Another amazing attic find. This wonderful dome trunk dates from around the mid 19th century. In it's day it was a very elaborately constructed trunk, it was made with all the bell and whistles. On the dome top between the curved wooden slats are strips of tooled leather. The corner bumpers are beautifully designed, the interior was made with a little envelope for documents. Inside the lid are border designs and a print of Venus sitting on a shell. There was even a tiny book, a vest pocket dictionary, which is included with the trunk. The trunk is in rough condition, so it needs some attention - one of the leather handles is missing - the other is broken, there is small hole in the side of the trunk and a number of parts that are distressed. Nonetheless, with some expert care this could be brought back to something like its original state.
