A stunning sculpture, created by Mathurin Moreau in the 1860s/70s. It is a Victorian Era Neo-Classical interpretation of the Goddess Athena. The sculpture is affixed to the base using period French blacksmith-made sheared bolts, a popular practice during the era and a good indicator of age. Condition is very good. She stands 11/5" in height, and is solid bronze, so has good weight. There are foundry marks on the underside of the sculpture, likely placed there after inspection. A wonderful sculpture, over 150 years old, by a WELL LISTED sculptor.
