A finely carved early 20th century Japanese netsuke, showcasing proper age and darkening to the subject, a farmer with axe and bundle of wood. Condition is very good. It has a SOLID 14K GOLD pendant bale going through the existing cord holes [himotoshi] on its' back. Marked and tested; it can be removed and sold for gold value without damage to the sculpt [if so desired . . .some gold value present].
