Antique ETRUSCAN MAJOLICA Leaf Shaped Platter by Griffen Sm other & Hill
c. 1870
The glaze is beautiful shades of Turquoise, Yellow, Pink & Green.
The back is blind embossed with GRIFFEN SMITH & HILL ETRUSCAN MAJOLICA Marks
There is also the #20 printed in black in the unglazed spot.
This is an outstanding example of AMERICAN Majolica Pottery from 1879 - 1892.
Made in Phoenixville, PA. - USA
The plates measures 12" x 9.25"
Th piece is shaped like a leaf with a twig handle.
The plate is in Excellent condition without chips, cracks or crazing.
There is one 1/4" crack and one chip but both are glazed so we know they are not damage but original to the manufacture of this piece.
