Item Description

Antique 1850'S Engraved By Alfred Jones, From The Original Picture "The Image Breaker". In It's Original Frame and Overall in Excellent Antique Condition. Note: The Frame has No Glass and the Screws at some point were repositioned in the wrong hanging direction. Please see all Photos as part of the description and condition. 18" x 15". Interesting Fact Regarding this Item: The print was published by the American Art-Union, a New York institution that boasted nearly nineteen thousand subscribers at its height in 1849-50. For an annual fee of five dollars, each member received a large, finely engraved, print and was entered in a lottery to win original artworks which were exhibited at the Art-Union's Free Gallery. Aimed at educating the public about contemporary American art, the group's distribution network reached members in every state. This contributed to the creation of a national market for landscapes and genre paintings. The system flourished for a limited period, however, with no lottery taking place in 1851, the year that the Art-Union issued this work as part of a supplementary set of smaller engravings titled "Gallery of American Art," No. I.

Pick up will be Friday & Saturday 3/1 & 3/2, From 10:00 - 3:30, Sunday Pickup will be from 9:00 - 1:00 pm ending promptly at 1 PM. We will not be available after 1pm on Sunday for any pick ups, please plan ahead. If you need an alternate date and time, please let us know if you need an alternate pick-up date and time in advance or prior to 1pm on Sunday, March 3, 2024, or your items will be forfeited.

Please call or text us, 15-20 minutes ahead of your arrival, so we can have your items ready. This is a busy street and we want everyone to be safe.

If the weather is bad, PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE. We can offer you an alternative pick up date and time as long as you contact AUCTION MANAGER: Rocco @ 914-531-5103 prior to the last pick-up time. If you need to come prior to those dates or after, call us we will set up an appointment for you.
