Item Description

Two of an 8 volume set published by Peterhouse in 1906. Series full title "Knutsford Edition, The Works of Mrs. Gaskell in Eight Volumes, With a General Biographical Introduction, and Critical Introduction to Each Volume by Dr. A. W. Ward, Master of Peterhouse, Cambridge. Who has Received the Kind Assistance of the Misses Gaskell."

Both books are cloth bound in dark red, with detailed gold embossed decorative inlay on spine and gold top head. Lead pencil markings inside front covers. Spines, binding, hinges and pages are intact. Slight age discoloration on edges of pages. Front covers are embossed with author's signature with gold inlay with visible scuffing and fading in places.
