Fantastic nearly-antique 1920s gilded age solid mahogany will-call ticket rack from the Shubert Theater made by Arcus of Chicago, IL. Found in a pile of "junk" in a building under construction on Chapel Street in downtown New Haven by a carpenter who thought it was a unique piece of local history. He inquired if he could keep it and it became his. Now downsizing, the current owners cannot take it and want it to find a home with someone who finds it as intriguing as they do. Wonderful piece of theater and New Haven history!
Notes: The top cornice piece bearing the brass Shubert sign was originally constructed of a cheap compressed wood board that had been attached to the Arcus rack likely sometime in the mid-late twentieth century. The current owner, a skilled carpenter, lovingly reconstructed this piece using solid mahogany to match the original ticket rack.
