The original artwork was done by Robert Farrington Elwell (1874-1962). He illustrated some of the advertising and publicity for Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and became Cody's friend and was introduced to Frederic Remington, Theodore Roosevelt, Annie Oakley (he even taught his daughter how to shoot), and others. Most of his artwork involves romantic scenes from the Old West. The banner was printed by Grinnell Lithograph Co. (active 1910-1940s) and has their marking "C.S. 59" in the lower left.
