7 VINTAGE 1938 "AMERICAN WEEKLY MAGAZINES" - These were issued as the weekly magazine-type publication inserted into Sunday newspapers across America- sort of like the "Parade Magazine" of today. These magazines are "CHOCK- FULL" - of full-color ILLUSTRATIONS - by famous Illustrators of the period, and containing hundreds of INTERESTING PRODUCT ADVERTISEMENTS- such as COCA-COLA; STUDEBAKER CARS; LUCKY STRIKE CIGARETTES; AND MICKEY MOOUSE COOKIES! These papers have approx. 15 FULL-PAGE color advertisements!
There are too many ads to list them all so I took one issue and listed for you the most well-recognized ads (still not all of them) in the February 6, 1938 issue down below in this Listing**. January 23, 1938: Colorful Front cover cartoons on "Awful Week-ends" by the brilliant Satirist FISH. A full-page color ad for the 60 Studebakers and another full-page Back Cover for 2 New Car V-8 Engines by FORD for 1938. 22 pages.
February 6, 1938: Colorful cover cartoons by Satirist - FISH. MANY ADVERTISEMENTS** including: a colorful full-page Chesterfield Cigarettes; Franco-American Spaghetti; Squibb Dental Cream; Lane Bryant; Dr. Scholl's Zino-pads; Pertussin; Royal Typewriters; Luden's Cough Drops; Old Gold Cigarettes; Lifebuoy; Waldorf Scott Tissue; Ovaltine; Phillip's Milk of Magnesia; Pepsodent Antiseptic; Cuticcura; (MY FAVORITE WITH a 1938 MICKEY MOUSE !) - a full-page color back cover ad for RITZ CRACKERS -Fig Newtons, Social Tea Biscuits, and Mickey Mouse Cookies; and many, many smaller advertisements too. 24 pages.
February 13, 1938: Awful Week-ends front cover comics by the Brilliant Satirist FISH. One article: "Why the Home is More Dangerous Than the Automobile"; "What is a Woman's Heart"; and a 2-page spread article with illustrations: "Old Man River" by Capt. Louis Rosche. 22 pages.
March 13, 1938: Awful Week-ends front cover comics by Satirist FISH. Full-color back cover ad for Del-Monte Canned Foods. 22 pages.
March 27, 1938: Nice Buick Back Cover Advertisement, Coca-Cola full-page ad, 22 pages
April 10, 1938: American Butterflies by Illustrator A.K. Macdonald, 26 pages
April 17, 1938: American Birds by Illustrator A.K. Macdonald, 22 pages
April 24, 1938: American Pests by Illustrator A.K. Macdonald, 26 pages
full page full color ads for: Lucky Strike Cigarettes and Coca-Cola new Take- Home 6 Pack Container (25 cents).
