An engraving taken from a photograph of the Statue of Free-dom atop the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. is featured on the $5 stamp in the 1922-25 regular-issue series made up of 23 stamps of different denominations. The $5 stamp, first put on sale on March 20, 1923, is the highest denomination in this extensive series. Beautifully executed in a combination of carmine rose, white and blue, the stamp has a surrounding design similar to that of the 20ยบ stamp in the same set. In mint condition, the stamp is becoming extremely rare
