Item Description

Slightly bowed, shaped like a Shield of olden times. This has a hanger on the top to be mounted. It is quite heavy. Perhaps 20 lbs or so. The stamp on the back seems to say GHIVI FACTOHEI. 804 is written on the back in red ink of some sort but also etched into the piece at the top above the handle. Slightly rusty on one side. This is a true work of art. Purchased at auction by a relative who has now passed. The owners father was a huge collector who frequented the large New York auction house scene including Sotheby‘s and Christie’s. He is unfortunately now deceased and did not leave records for many items. This item, as well as at least another hundred items, are all from his extensive collection. They were collected in New York in the 1960-80's generally speaking. None of the pictures do them justice. This item is really stunning. It's intricately carved and very heavy! Warriors fight across the page almost like they are dancing.
