Item Description

Here we have a national treasure in the Golden Book series that was illustrated by Alton Tobey. This piece proudly hung over a mantel for many years and suffered some heat blistering that is visible in the photos here. Despite the fact that the piece has suffered minor damage there are 3 small paint loss points to note. This classic original piece remains an absolute icon for the Golden Books series, where some of its counter parts have sold for thousands at auction.

The Golden Book - History of the United States of America (1963)
Building the Nation 1783-1850 vol.4 is included in the sale of this piece.

A great article on one authors great experience with the Golden Book Series where Tobey produced 350 Original paintings for the series.
