This is a charming 91 year old painting. The musketeer is relaxing with a tankard of ale, and there are plenty more tankards to be had, judging by the casks in the back room, over to the right. He has a sleepy little dog at his feet, and a mandolin at the ready, in case he is in the mood to regale his lovely serving wench with a bawdy tune. Ah, the decadent life of a simpler time.
The only reference to a 1931 contemporary Al Sakowitz we could find was Alexander Sakowitz of the famous Sakowitz Deptartment Store in Texas. We are not sure if this is painted by that Alexander Sakowitz, though. Here is some info on that family:

Notes: Please view the numerous, detailed photos for an accurate appraisal of this item's condition. This painting is in somewhat rough shape. The main issue is that is coming off of the stretcher strips and is torn and shredding along the top, particularly on the left hand side. It is creases, loose on the stretcher strips, has chipping, scratches, and discoloration from age. The back of the canvas has soiling and stains.
