1927 Vintage Louis Icart "Au Clair De La Lune" Hand Signed Aquatint Etching Print

This is a fantastic hand-embellished and colored etching with aquatint and drypoint from famed listed French artist, Louis Icart (1888-1950). An illustrative take on the popular French folk song "Au clair de la Lune". Icart's etchings epitomize the depiction of women during the art deco period. This motif features the central figure of the song, an actress, or "pierette", as she waits in a moonlit hall for her male counterpart, the actor, or "pierrot".

All the color you see in the piece is hand-done and looks stunning. Signed in pencil lower right, embossed with windmill stamp and numbered lower left. Also features a copyright attribution in the top right, "copyright 1927, L. Icart, Paris".

It has been custom framed in a distressed silver gilt frame with all archival materials, and looks incredible under its UV glass and acid-free, grasscloth triple matte.

Frame size is 27.5 inches Wide x 35 inches High, View size is 15.5 inches Wide x 23 inches High, with a 5.5-inch matte.
