Item Description

published in 1901 by The Gravure Company of America. Amazing full page sized gravures of 24 US Presidents between 1789 and 1901 (see picture with list of Presidents inside book). Each gravure has a protective tissue paper covering with that president’s name printed on the bottom of the tissue. All of them are there and intact however a few are wrinkled and there are some yellow spots from age on others. The borders on some are also yellowed from age. There is also a page with a biography and information about each president.
Says on personalized label on the inside cover “This Copy Registered and Numbered #213 Allotted to William Dougherty from the Gravure Company of America”. Signed on February 26, 1902, by what looks like “JR Davis, Secretary”. Not sure how many limited-edition copies were published but clearly not many.
This book is huge and heavy at 14.5 pounds, and it measures 20" X 16" X 1 1/2". The front and back covers are detached as are a few pages in both the front and the back of the book. The spine is in bad shape as can be seen in the pictures. The covers while detached are in decent condition by themselves.
The individual gravures have significant value on their own and while the book is in rough shape the bulk of it is still intact on the inside.
