This auction will feature ephemera from an estate between a former governor of Massachusetts, a member of the US Senate, House of Representatives and members of the Judicial courts, a set of letters written by John Davis (January 13, 1787 – April 19, 1854) to Emory Washburn (February 14, 1800 – March 18, 1877). The First Letter offered discusses the nearly last fatal duel in Washington DC because of a dispute on the House of Representatives floor, reported by Davis to Washburn.
