Item Description

Robert Emmet Clemens (1916-1989) Robert Clements graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Class of 1940. He became a World War II Navy ACE, credited with shooting down five enemy aircraft in aerial combat. He retired as a U.S. Navy Captain in 1968. A decorated World War II naval aviaror with two Distinguished Flying Crosses and three Air Medals, a tally of five kills of Japanese aircraft, Clements remained in the Navy after receiving his Calcech degree. He also flew mission in the Korean war. He worked in a variety of engineering and administrative slots, the last being at the Jacksonville, Florida, naval air station. He retired in 1968 with [he rank of captain.
