Dust Jacket present but toned and somewhat dusty with a few chip losses. The interior of the book is lightly toned. Book block is starting to separate but holding (some careful maintenance will solve that problem). Otherwise, a good sold book.

Businessman and poet. He and his brother Cedric ran hotels at the Isles of Shoals (off the coast of New England) for over 50 years. The Leightons' sister, poet Celia Thaxter, served as hostess for the Appledore Hotel. While never as famous as his sister, Oscar published several books of poetry, and a later memoir entitled "Ninety Years at the Isles of Shoals." The Appledore Hotel burned down in 1914, and his family's remaining holdings were sold in 1915. Despite the sale, Oscar continued to spend his summers at the Shoals. Affectionately called "Uncle Oscar" in later years, he passed away 3 months shy of his 100th birthday.
