Item Description

Captain John Fair (1920-1992) entered flight school in 1941 and saw action in 1944 over the Philippines and fought in Formosa and Iwo Jima. He remained in the Navy and flew over 6,000 hours in 15 different fighter types retiring in 1971. A World War II Navy ACE, credited with shooting down five enemy aircraft in aerial combat. Distinguished Flying Cross, Legion of Merit, Silver Star.
