Item Description

Bruce Donald Jaques (1919-2011) During World War II Bruce Jaques became a Navy ACE, credited with the destruction of 5.5 enemy aircraft in aerial combat, plus 3 more on the ground while strafing enemy airfields. Two distinguished flying crosses and a silver star for dedication and bravery. Note, first day cover was created and cancellation stamp is a copy stamp, the stamp is the unauthorized atomic bomb stamp that was cancelled by the US Postal service due to congressional pressure and atomic bomb blast survivors and descendants as well as anti-nuclear activists. Signature is by commander Jaques. Last image of commander Jacques and his awards is for reference only. This is NOT a First Day Cover. It was made by the consignor and sent to the pilot for his signature, which he did and sent it back. The cancellation was also created by the consignor. The A Bomb Stamp was NEVER APPROVED and those that were printed up before rejection by Congress are this lot of stamps.
