The Peony Flower in the center symbolically is the queen of all flowers; ‘with its beauty at the end of a rigid and straight talk, it means 'courage and honor.’ A very nice set. With Japanese porcelain for tea, the Japanese often do not buy 'sets' but rather buy what they like. So, mixing and matching sets in Japan are common. This is an excellent set with very high attention to the minute details. Notice the careful brown rim and the ordered figuration under the glaze in different colors of underglaze blue.
