An antique Dutch brass and copper Tobacco Box which dates from the 18th Century. Tells the story of a man and a woman and their courtship. Inside is a piece of sharkskin used for tobacco grinding or later for match striking. Engravings on top and bottom and on the sides as well. Possibly a Sailor’s story and his loved one. Dutch words that are on many of the Dutch tobacco boxes from this era are engraved on the surface of the box.
