Discussions on philosophy and literature, education and university reform: chiefly from the Edinburgh review; corrected, vindicated, enlarged, in notes and appendices. Sir William Hamilton; Robert Turnbull.
1860. Harper & Brothers, New York. xlviii, 764 pages; 9.5 by 6 by 2. Weight: 2-pound 10 oz in box. No dust jacket, lightly toned interior. Some tattering to the spine, upper head, otherwise a good book. No copies of this 1860 edition were on all International Libraries listings (OCLC). Each year a review was published, and changes were made to the books. Notable new philosophers and educational leaders were added over time.
A wide-ranging compendium of papers, reviews etc. from 1820s onwards by the last major representative of the Scottish school (barring perhaps James McCosh). A quite acceptable working/reference copy of this scarce book. Sir William Hamilton, the 9th Baronet (1788-1856) was an influential Scottish metaphysician and teacher of philosophy.
