John Quincy Adams engraving circa 1825. Rare original stipple and line engraving of President John Quincy Adams after a portrait by Charles Bird King from Delaplain’s National Portrait Gallery. Published in Washington City in 1825 by B.C. Tyler. In poor condition, with stabilized backing tape, and side edges stabilized with museum quality acid free conservators invisible or nearly transparent tape. Edge losses and previous cropping which has eliminated the ‘Published by B. C. Tyler below the ‘Presidents’ title. Toning, edge paper loss, tears, a hole in the border edge, toning, water stains, and spotting. Still a rare item. Few copies found. Measures as cropped, 12 inches by 10 inches.
