Thomas Briggs of Stinton, England releases John Morrissey of an obligation of seventy-four pounds. Signed by Thomas Briggs and witnessed by Thomas Lamb, John Powlay, and Thomas Chase (?). Both Briggs and Lamb families are connected to the community in Stinton and the manor house. This release was also noted as the ‘Thirteenth yeare of our king William’ who, ironically, fell of his horse and died from pneumonia that year.
Toned, stained, spotted with loss of edges affecting letters of the document. Retention of the remains of a wax seal. Two pages separated and with watermarks on deckled paper. See images for details. Measures 12.25 by 7.5 inches, two sheets.
