Bust is mounted on a marble stand that has been repaired. The stand is not original to the sculpture.
Jean-Antoine Injalbert (1845-1933) was a French sculptor. Originally a pupil of Augustin-Alexandre Dumont, he won the Prix de Rome in 1874, and went on to win the Grand Prix at the Exposition Universelle of 1889. He came a member of the Institute de France in 1905, and was promoted to Commander of the Légion d'honneur. In 1910. He later came an instructor at the Académie Colarossi and the École des Beaux Arts.
Injalbert commissioned work can be found in Paris, Pézenas, Reims, Montpellier, Sète, among others.
